Main Research Interests: Mediaeval Arabic language and literature, focused on the early Abbasid period and the translation movement. Arabic natural sciences, with a particular interest in Classical and Oriental sources, transmission of knowledge to and in Islamic Mediaeval society. Fluid textual traditions, philology and textual criticism.

Current Research Projects: Arabic mineralogy as wittnessed by the Books of Stones, its sources and development; Manuscript tradions of the Kitāb al Ḫawāṣṣ by Abū ʿAlā ibn Zuhr, individuation of the sources through the list of authors given in the introduction, use of this rare explicit system of attribution to map anonymous materials; critical edition and translation of the Arabic version of the 9th Book from De Simplicium Medicamentorum Facultatibus by Galen.
