News vom 06.10.2020

On 19-20 October 2020, an international virtual conference “Protracted Displacement: Hopes, Perspectives, and Solutions? Governance – Social Dimension – Academia” will be organized jointly by Academics in Solidarity (AiS) – Freie Universität Berlin, German-Jordanian University, Yarmouk University, EDU-SYRIA, University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal, DAAD, GIZ, and UNHCR. It will open a series of thematic events devoted to various issues of protracted displacement, including political, socio-economic, humanitarian, cultural and academic. Further conference sessions will follow on 3 and 17 November 2020.

Protracted displacement shapes the face of the region. With the Syrian civil war in its 10th year, long term uprooting in Iraq, Yemen, Libya, and Palestine, as well as their effects on neighboring and European countries, the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe is at hand. The core goal of this conference is to not only analyze the situation but also shift the focus from an urgent humanitarian response to sustainable solutions in the host and in the home countries. This conference, held online as a series of events, is a multi-dimensional, interdisciplinary platform for discussion and dialogue.
Further details are available on the conference website.
