Wiebke Rabe is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Chinese Studies, Freie Universität Berlin. Her research focuses on local governance, political economy, the internationalization of Chinese enterprises and Chinese infrastructure provision at home and abroad. Previously, she was a Research Associate at the Hertie School of Governance and a guest researcher at Nanjing University and Zhejiang University. She gained further work experience with the Mercator Institute for China Studies, the Austrian Embassy in Beijing, and the Natural Resources Defense Council, Beijing. She completed her doctoral dissertation in Political Science at the Hertie School (summa cum laude), holds an M.A. in Conflict Studies from Utrecht University (with distinction) and a B.A. in European Studies from the University of Bremen. Her doctoral research and studies were funded by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
