DESCRIPTION: Event Description In October 2020\, the EU-Korea Strateg
ic Partnership celebrated its tenth anniversary. The relationship has flour
ished over the last decade\, with South Korea becoming the first country to
have signed with the EU three bilateral agreements in areas such as free t
rade\, security and crisis management. Yet there are new challenges ahead f
or both sides – from dealing with Covid19 through climate change up to the
global competition between the US and China. How will the EU-ROK Strategi
c Partnership develop over the next ten years? Can the EU and South Korea s
trengthen their relationship to become even closer like-minded partners sup
porting multilateral and free trade institutions across the globe? How does
North Korea and relations with China fit within this equation? Two ambas
sadors\, Ahn Chong Ghee\, who served as ROK’s ambassador to the EU (2015-16
) and Michael Reiterer\, who was the head of EU Delegation to the ROK (2017
-2020) will look at what we can expect from the EU-South Korea relationship
in the next decade. The event will be chaired by Dr. Tereza Novotna\, Ko
 rea-Europe Center Fellow.
