Ghosts of War. Nazi Occupation and Its Aftermath in Soviet Belarus by Franziska Exeler was named co-winner of the 2025 ICBS Book Award, awarded for the “best English-language monograph by a foreign author published between 2015 and 2024.” The ICBS (International Congress of Belarusian Studies) is an annual academic event held outside of Belarus. It provides an important forum for researchers free of the pressures and censorship that exist within authoritarian Belarus.
