Wir laden Sie herzlich zum Vortrag von Jacobus van Dijk
zu „A ‘Königsnovelle’ of Tutankhamun and the ascension of Horemheb" am Mittwoch, den 29. April 2026 in Raum 2.2059 um 18 Uhr ein.
Close inspection of a fragmentary inscription from Saqqara reveals that it is a hitherto unrecognized fragment of a so-called ‘Königsnovelle’, in which Tutankhamun announces to his courtiers his decision to crown Horemheb as his successor. The text is related on the one hand to the Coronation Inscription of Horemheb and the titles in the latter’s Memphite tomb, and on the other hand to the Inscription Dédicatoire of Ramesses II describing the appointment of that king by his father Seti I.
