ECTS-Credits

The following information concerns the guidelines of the scoring system that has been in place for all Erasmus students at the Department of History and Cultural Studies since the summer term 2015. Please consider this information while completing your Learning Agreement.

 

Following ECTS-Credits can be gained in courses:

1) It is recommended to book complete modules in accordance with the respective examination regulation.

 

2) The following regulations are in place while taking individual courses that are comprised of 2 semester periods per week:

 

a) Participation in lectures/seminars/basic courses/tutorials/colloquia (=VL/SE/GK/Ü/C): 2 ECTS for 2 semester periods per week

 

b) The following additional credits can be rewarded within the context of VL/SE/GK/Ü/C:

 

Presentation with Handout: 2 ECTS

Paper, approx. 10-15 pages: 4-6 ECTS*

Paper (Master), approx. 20-25 pages: 8-11 ECTS*

Written Test 60/90 min.: 2-6 ECTS*

Oral Exam under/over 15 min.: 2/4 ECTS

 

* The number of ECTS credits is based on the actual extent of the examination and the level of the content (Beginner’s Level: BA: 1.-4. Term, MA: 1. & 2. Term or Advanced Level: BA: 5. & 6. Term, MA: 3. & 4. Term) as well as on the individual’s language level, where applicable.

 

The individual formats of the modules’ examinations are determined according to the current examination regulations. Exceptions require a previous arrangement with the Erasmus Officer in charge.

Important: Please obtain information about specific requirements from the lecturer of each individual course.

 

Example of the ‘Building Block’ System:

Bachelor: Participation in one seminar with a presentation incl. a handout and one paper (10 pages, Beginner’s Level):

2+2+4 = 8 ECTS


Master: Participation in one seminar with a presentation incl. a handout and one paper (25 pages, Advanced Level):

2+2+9 = 13 ECTS
