Individual Doctorate

Within the framework of the individual doctorate, doctoral candidates conduct research in close cooperation with their supervisors. In addition, they can take advantage of qualification opportunities for early career researchers at the Dahlem Research School.

Structured Doctoral Programmes

At the Department of History and Cultural Studies, a doctorate in a structured programme can be pursued in graduate schools and programmes that offer thematically focused curricula with a variety of qualification and support formats. The structured doctorate is governed by a supervision agreement that regulates the rights and obligations of the doctoral candidates and supervisors. Admission to a structured doctorate is only possible after successful application to one of the graduate schools / to one of the programmes.
