Interdisciplinary Centres at the Department of History and Cultural Studies

The first Interdisciplinary Centres (IC) were founded in 2001 as interdepartmental, project-based research groups within Freie Universität Berlin. The Freie Universität currently has nine Interdisciplinary Centres, which contribute to the sharpening of the research profile and intensify interdisciplinary exchange and cooperation. The Interdisciplinary Centres also include representation from non-university establishments. This special scientific structure allows a dialogue beyond the limits of the respective subjects and lays the foundation for new and significant research results through this productive cooperation. These results should be presented to a broad public through public presentations and exhibitions as well as publications.
