Buildung the Policy-Making Infrastructure for Unification - Brandenburg and Berlin (Government of Gyeonggi-do)

The province of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea is located in the north-west and surrounds the capital, Seoul. Gyeonggi-do has been partially separated since the division of Korea at the 38th parallel, so that the northern part now belongs to the North Korean province of North Hwanghae Province. Because of this unique location and its demographic and economic importance, Gyeonggi-do will play a prominent role in the process of Korean unification. Because of many similarities to the German case, therefore, the provincial government is particularly interested in the completion of unification processes coordinated in Berlin-Brandenburg. For this purpose, the Deputy Governor of Berlin-Brandenburg and representatives from the Free University of Berlin signed a letter of intent in an outdoor ceremony in Fall of 2011.
