
An Attractive Location
Berlin possesses a network of scientific and cultural institutions dealing with the Islamic world that is unique within Germany. This includes the Museum of Islamic Art, the State Library (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation) whose Oriental Department owns the largest collection of Arabic manuscripts in the country, and the House of World Cultures.
A variety of opportunities to gather information and exchange views is offered by the Institute’s cooperation with the Modern Orient Humanities Centre (ZMO), the Institutes of Arabic Studies and of Turkic Studies at the FU, the Institute of Asian and African Studies at the Humboldt University and other higher education institutions, as well as the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences.
