Prof. Alberto Cantera, Professor of Iranian Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin, has been elected as the new president of Societas Iranologica Europaea (S.I.E.). The S.I.E. is an esteemed international academic society dedicated to the advancement of Iranian Studies, boasting members from both European and non-European countries. Established in 1983 in Rome with the backing of the European Science Foundation and the Istituto Italiano per il Medio ed Estremo Oriente, the society was formed during the First European Colloquium of Iranology. Its primary objective is to foster and enhance Ancient, Middle, and Modern Iranian Studies across various disciplines such as philology, linguistics, literature, history, religions, art, archaeology, philosophy, ethnology, geography, human sciences, and jurisprudence.
