• „Intercultural“ communication and the construction of collective identities in the light of „tradition“ and „religion“

• Indian sacred and secular cultures of music

Current Research

• Project-manager and member of an interdisciplinary team of scholars analysing the change of the character and the work of museums with a focus on non-western art and culture

• The standing of Navajo law in national and international judicial systems

• Analysis of a collection of about 600 wax-cylinder-recordings of ceremonial songs of the Navajo
