07.12.2017 | 12:00

Shi Shiwei (Berlin, Beijing)

The consistently high growth of China in the last 30 years until 2012 can be largely explained by the active use of globalization. China will give new impulses for the further integration of world economy with the launch of “One Road and One Belt” and share its experiences and the capacities worldwide. The essence of “One Road and One Belt” is to build an intercontinental stretching infrastructure. At the west end of the New Silk Road, Europe can benefit from the initiative in varied ways joining it on the basis of mutual respect.

Shi Shiwei is Professor for international economics and Director of Centre for European Studies at University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). He has studied in Berlin and Potsdam between 1990 – 1998 and received his doctor title of Dr. rer. Pol. He worked in Beijing since then. In 2017, he came back to Berlin and is currently teaching at the Institute of Sinology (OAS) in the course of the Confucius China Studies Program. Prof. Dr. Shi is member of the Council of Chinese Association for Germany Studies, research fellow of the Research Department of International Cooperation Center of National Development and Reform Commission as well as research fellow of Zentrum für Deutschlandstudien (ZDS), Peking University.
