Irene Pajón Leyra is postdoctoral researcher at the University of Nice. She has a PhD in Greek Philology  (Complutense University, Madrid, 2008) and a degree in Hebrew Philology. Her research activity has dealt with three main fields: Greek paradoxography (the topic of her Doctoral Thesis), ancient Geography and papyrology.

Trained in papyrology at the University of Oxford and the Spanish National High Council of Research, her work as a papyrologist focuses on the collection and study of papyri connected to ancient Geography and paradoxography. Among them, the Artemidorus papyrus deserves a special mention, to which she has devoted some specific studies, as well as the organization of two international conferences. Apart from papyrological documents, she has published studies on relevant figures of ancient Geography, namely Posidonius of Apamea, Artemidorus of Ephesus or Pytheas of Massalia.

She participates or has participated in prestigious research projects, both in Spain (Hesperia, DVCTVS) and abroad (FrGrHist IV, Zoomathia, Practicing Knowledge in Islamic Societies and their Neighbours).
